The Big Picture Seminar
The Big Picture Seminar is designed to help young men develop a strong vision of their future – starting now. With the advantage of receiving advice and sound direction, these students will learn to see their high school years (their studies, athletic clubs, summer jobs, leisure time, etc.) as an opportunity to develop the personal attributes necessary for greater success throughout their lives.
Purpose of the Seminar
The purpose of the seminar is two-fold: to help young men form high ideals, realistic goals, and practical plans for meeting the challenges awaiting them in the future, and to share practical advice for succeeding academically, choosing career paths and becoming effective leaders in the workplace and in society.
Now is the time to start learning what it takes to build a successful future – to succeed as professionals and family men, and as informed, effective citizens.

Big Picture Seminar - Feedback from a Parent
My son was informed of the Glenwood Big Picture series by one of the teachers at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. Not knowing too much about the program we attended the first night and then returned the next week. Each week we looked forward to the next talk. I think I got as much out of the talks, maybe more some nights, as my son did. The talks have been very interesting, informative and motivational. They touched upon a variety of topics and reinforced many of the views we as parents have with regards to responsibility, character, virtue, faith, professionalism, success and etiquette. The talks shared useful and helpful information like how to get a summer job, write a resume, the importance of getting good grades, scholarships, and qualities to develop to be a responsible student, adult and father. The common thread between each talk was to look beyond grade 9 and see the “Big Picture”. What you do with your life as a teenager will have positive or negative affects on your life.
During the first talk, two diagrams were drawn on the board that my son and I often refer back to. One was of a bridge showing the foundation below the water as the place where teenagers are now. The importance of a strong foundation was illustrated. The other diagram was a Time Line, showing where the boys are at 14years of age, and the milestones they will probably reach during their life time. This illustrated the importance of making the most of your time and to setting goals in order to achieve them.
I encourage other young men to attend the Big Picture Series. You will be exposed to art, classical music and the importance of reading. All the talks will help you with your current studies, help you grow in your faith and make you a more cultured individual. I’d like to personally thank all the men who shared their time, knowledge and experience with my son and the other young men.
